Privacy at HabTools

Privacy is part of how we design.

HabTools creates technologies that turn signals from the body into feedback for learning. We believe useful technology should be clear and restrained in what information it collects and put sharing under the user’s control.

Our approach

Useful technology does not need to collect everything it can.

We aim to collect and retain the information needed to optimize user experience while keeping people in control of what they choose to share.

Because HabTools builds products with different functions, the details of data handling can differ from one product to another. Product-specific practices are described with the product itself.

Purpose-driven collection

We design for usefulness, not excess, and try to avoid collecting information that does not support the intended experience.

Product-appropriate handling

Storage, access, and sharing should fit the product and the person using it rather than exceed what the experience requires.

User-directed sharing

When a product offers sharing, the person using it should remain in control of what is sent and to whom.
